Mrs. Keaschall's math class had a lot of fun acting out the "Locker Problem" today. They were searching for patterns to help them figure out what would happen if 1,000 lockers were opened and closed based on multiples. Check out these strategies. They are using math tools and perseverance to solve a difficult task. Great job Raiders!

Tuesday night in Green Valley was a tale of two completely different stories. The 7th grade Lady Raiders took on West Lincoln Broadwell's squad and made easy work of the Wolverines by defeating them 33-9 to improve to 9-1 on the season. Peyton led the Raiders with 11 points while Zoey and Kallie used their size advantage and collected 12 and 10 rebounds respectively. The Raiders out-rebounded the Wolverines by a staggering 59-23. The Raiders jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the first half, to only go on a 17-point run to put the game away. A total of eight Lady Raiders contributed in the scoring column with Zoey adding 7, Sage & Nora with 4, Jaina, Sophia & Lydia with 2, and Kallie added 1. The 8th grade Lady Raiders faced off with an extremely talented West Lincoln Broadwell team who has only lost 1 game the last two seasons. The Raiders battled from the start but couldn't get their shots to fall early in the game. Charlie swished a 3-pointer from the left wing to get the scoring started for the Raiders then Sophia came off the bench and drained a three of her own within seconds of coming into the game. Kenzie led the Raiders with 7 rebounds and 3 blocks... adding 2 points of her own. The Lady Raiders travel to Lewistown Thursday evening at 6:00 PM to take on the Indians on their home turf. Good luck ladies!

The 7th grade Lady Raiders had another exciting game in Glasford as they kept the Tigers in their cage during a 40-36 victory on Monday evening! Peyton recorded her first double-double knocking down 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds on the night. Illini Bluffs had two guards that needed to be covered at all times and it was a team effort on the court to slow them down. Tenley was glued to their point guard's hip all night and if she drove to the basket, the Raider "bigs" were there waiting for her! IB held a slim 10-8 lead after the 1st quarter but the sixth-grade sensations by the names of Kallie & Kynlie combined for all of the Raiders 11 second quarter points to take the lead and never give it back. Zoey was big in the paint adding 10 points while Tenley knocked down a clutch baseline jumper late in the game for her two points. Peyton did a great job finding her open teammates collecting 8 assists while Nora was one of the bigs waiting for the IB point guards in the paint as she led the Raiders with 3 blocks on the night. The 8th grade Lady Raiders found themselves in foul trouble early which made it tough to get any type of run going. After giving IB a 10-point head start, it was back and forth all through the first half but Charlie found Nora J under the basket as time was expiring to cut the deficit to 7 points at half. The Raiders trimmed the lead to six early in the 3rd quarter but IB scored the next 13 points to eventually down the Raiders 33-21 Monday evening. Peyton led the Raiders with 8 points while Charlie's aggressiveness led her to a team high 8 rebounds on the night. Also contributing for the Raiders were Kenzie with 5 points, Charlie with 4, Nora J with 2 and Lydia with 2! The schedule doesn't get any easier as the Raiders host West Lincoln Broadwell this evening in Green Valley at 5:30 PM!

Mrs. Bush's accelerated 6th grade math class, took a brain break after taking their Chapter 2 Test and played Math Pickle! Students partnered up and competed to roll their dice to see who can list integers from least to greatest based on their roll. If they couldn't find a place for their integer, they were in a pickle!

While opening day for duck season isn't until this weekend, the Lady Raiders got an early start on everyone else as both teams completed a duck roast Tuesday evening in Green Valley. The 7th grade girls kicked it off early, and even though they started the game shooting a only 1-10 from the field, their relentless defense kept them in the game until the baskets started to fall. The Raiders jumped out to a 10-2 lead to start the game and took a somewhat comfortable 16-6 lead into the locker room at halftime. Although a 10-point lead doesn't seem like much, the Raiders still looked in control of the game. Havana scored first after halftime to make it an 8-point game, then the Raiders took over. They finished the game on a 19-4 run to send the Ducks flying south by a score of 35-12. Peyton led the Raiders with 13 points and 3 assists; while Lydia, Sophia, Kallie & Peyton shared the rebounding honors, all with 5 rebounds each. Kallie pitched in 7 points off the bench to help improve the 7th grade to 6-1 on the young season. When the Raiders traveled to Havana last season, there was only a total of 24 points scored between both teams in an offensive struggle. This Tuesday evening contest proved to be much different story as there were eight lead changes throughout the game. The Raiders were down by 2 in the final minute of the first half when Peyton knocked down a momentum-changing 3 and Kenzie capped it off with another field goal to head into the locker room up 15-12. Havana led by as many as 5 late in the 3rd quarter, but Kallie found Kenzie in the corner for another trey as time expired to close the gap to 1 point entering the final frame. The Lady Raiders outscored Havana 11-5 in the 4th to finish cooking the Ducks 34-29. Kenzie led the balanced scoring attack with 13 points, while Peyton added 9 and Charlie added 7. Charlie was an animal on the boards as she grabbed 13 rebounds on the night, Kenzie was one rebound shy of a double-double with 9 rebounds. While Julia didn't have a big scoring night, she moved the ball around well all night tallying up five assists to lead the Raiders. The 8th grade girls move to 5-2. The Lady Raiders welcome the Cougars of Illini Central at HOME on Thursday evening at 5:30 PM!

Following their Elite 8 appearance in the IESA state series, the MCMS boys baseball team put a final stamp on the season as Joe Proehl and Jase Canada represented the MCMS Raiders Baseball team in the Junior High All State Showcase this past weekend in Jacksonville, IL. The game featured a lot of junior high baseball talent around the state of Illinois and the MCMS boys did us proud, with Proehl hitting .333 with 2 extra base hits and Canada’s team going an undefeated 5-0 en route to capturing the All State Showcase Tournament Championship! Good job boys!

The 7th grade Lady Raiders knew coming into this game that they were going to get their first true test of the season after outscoring their first five opponents 203-36. It was an exciting game from start to finish as neither team led by more than four points the entire way. Peyton led the Raiders with 11 points and 8 rebounds, while Kallie was huge in the paint adding a tough 6 points. Sophia and Zoey rounded out the scoring with four a piece! Peyton and Kallie each had a shot to win the game in regulation but came up just short as the Raiders fell to Broadmoor 29-25 in overtime. The 8th grade girls took the court next and they even though Broadmoor scored in the opening seconds of the game, the Raiders went on a 12-0 run to take the lead from there to eventually take a 12-6 lead into halftime. It was back and forth in the 3rd quarter but the Raiders shut the door in the 4th as they outscored the Bruins 13-2 in the final frame to take the home victory 29-12. Kenzie led the way with 15 points and 9 rebounds, while Charlie added 6 and Julia added 4. Nora J had the sticky hands of the night coming away with four steals! The Lady Raiders welcome Havana for a home game on Tuesday evening at 5:30 PM!
