The Raiders baseball team got off to a great start in their season opener, shutting out the Rankin Rebels 4 - 0 in game 1 and finishing off the sweep with a 10 - 0 victory in game 2. In game 1 action, the Raiders got a dominant pitching performance from Joe Proehl and Jase Canada, who combined to throw an opening day NO HITTER! Proehl got the win for the Raiders, tossing 6.1 innings allowing only 2 walks and striking out 16 hitters. Canada then came in relief to slam the door and finish off the no hitter, striking out 1 in his .2 innings of work. The Raiders offense got going early, with back-to-back doubles by Breckin Guy and Tyler Byrd in the first to take a 2-0 lead that they would never relinquish. Proehl added an insurance run in the 2nd and then Guy then added another big RBI in the 5th to put away the game. In game 2 action, the Raiders got another great pitching performance from Connor Coile and Griffin Tudela, who combined to strike out 7 more Rankin hitters. Coile went 2 innings with 4 strikeouts and only 1 walk and Tudela came in the last inning and struck out 3 of the 4 batters he faced. Sam Dierker, Remi Arthalony, and Layne Byrd all picked up RBIs in the game. The Raiders look to keep things going on Saturday when they have another home matchup with the Tremont Turks!

Over the past week, over 30 Midwest Central basketball players have been playing at the Curley "Boo" Johnson Skills for Life Basketball Academy Camp in Dunlap. This camp features over 250 players from Central Illinois and is run by Curley Boo Johnson, who was a former legendary player for the Harlem Globetrotters. For the first time in more than a decade Midwest Central was represented on the coaching staff as Carly DeSutter, Josh Dawe, and J.J. Proehl were selected to be coaches for teams of the younger campers. Of all the schools in the area, Midwest Central had by far the largest representation of athletes in attendance. Congratulations to all the players who worked on their basketball and life skills at the camp and represented our Raider Way!

Hello Raiders, A quick reminder that school will be starting soon. If you've not registered, please do so soon as it's important for us in scheduling and making bus routes that work. If you have questions about registration, please contact your building office (PS-309.968.6464, MS-309.352.2300, HS-309.968.6766) With the middle school construction going on that building is closed right now, but any documents can be dropped at the high school or primary school and we will get them to the middle school. The 2024 wrestling camps were a hit! We had a total of almost 60 campers join us! This year we split the camp into two parts. Week one was for the Middle and High schoolers. This week focused on advanced moves, cardio and pushing the wrestlers to their limits. All while learning team building and having fun along the way. Week two focused on basics for the primary school students. 20+ kids had never seen the mat before! It was amazing to see all of them learn what this sport is about! Thank you to all the coaches, volunteers, wrestlers and parents that made these weeks possible! We look forward to an awesome 2024-2025 season for the youth and High School teams!
