For the third time in Midwest Central's history, the 7th grade boys basketball team is heading to the STATE TOURNAMENT! The boys defeated Decatur Catholic 49 - 40 in front of a jam packed, raucous crowd at home to punch their ticket to the Elite 8! Midwest Central led by as much as 17 points on the night with big performances from their backcourt, highlighted by their hot shooting. The Raiders shot an impressive 44% from downtown and a clutch 80% from the free throw line! Joe Proehl led the Raiders charge with 14 points to go with 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Jase Canada (12 points) and Jaxton Bolen (10 points) both added double digits to the scoring column! Breckin Guy overcame some early foul trouble to contribute 7 huge points and 4 rebounds for the Raiders. Evan Schmidt and Colton Watts both added a bucket and 2 big rebounds apiece! Johnny McFarland, Midwest Central's IESA Sportsmanship pin recipient, also added a clutch bucket! Coach Proehl had some things he wanted to say to our amazing home crowd as well: "Raider Nation helped get us this Sectional Championship. The support of our home crowd was worth at least 10 points and helped push us over the top against a very talented team. We will have a banner on the wall from this team forever...and it's up to us to determine what that banner says. We need Raider Nation this weekend more than ever!" The Raiders move to a historic 23 - 1 and advance to the Elite 8 this Saturday where they will play Effingham St. Anthony at Macon Meridian High School beginning at 1:00 PM! Students, please be looking for additional information regarding a fan bus and let's pack this place in support of our Raiders! #Statebound #feelsgreattobeintheElite8 #raiderforlife

The 6th grade boys basketball team played their first game of the season Sunday against Tremont. Their unrelenting effort gave them the win as they never quit when they were down. Sam Dierker gave the team 8 points and Grayson Piro hit a huge 3 to give the Raiders the lead. The boys look to continue their efforts at the Tremont tournament this weekend!

The Raiders 8th grade basketball picked up a gritty regional victory on Saturday morning, coming back from a 13-2 deficit and defeating the Mt Pulaski Bruins 39-36. Down 13-2 early in the first quarter, the Raiders used a clutch performance from Cade Brotherton to cut the lead to 13-12 at half. After trading buckets for most of the second half the Raiders managed to pull ahead late and with some clutch free throws down the stretch from Joe Proehl and Cade Brotherton, the Raiders were able to survive and advance! Brotherton had a monster game for the Raiders, dropping in a career high 17 points on 4 three pointers. Joe Proehl added 10 big points and Blake Molitor added 7 to move their record to 13 - 8! The 2 seeded Raiders continue their season on Wednesday at 6:45 PM in Mt Pulaski where they will take on the 3 seeded Illini Central Cougars! Come out and support your Raiders!

For the first time in 28 years at the Middle School, the 7th grade Midwest Central Raiders boys basketball team is a REGIONAL CHAMPION! The Raiders traded buckets with Parkview the first half of the game with neither team going ahead by more than 4 points in the first two quarters as the Raiders clung to a 17 - 14 lead at half. And then....the third quarter. The Raiders exploded out on a 17 - 7 run, pushing the lead to 34 - 21 and then held on for a 34 - 23 victory! Joe Proehl led the Raiders offense with 19 points with an assist, 4 rebounds and 4 steals! Breckin Guy, who was the Raiders IESA Sportsmanship pen recipient, added 7 huge points for the Raiders. Jaxton Bolen added 4 clutch points and a steal and Evan Schmidt added a bucket and 5 important rebounds. Jase Canada also added 3 boards and 4 assists for the now 22-1 Regional Champion Raiders! Coach Proehl had some things he wanted to say about the boys' season tonight. "Our team effort all season from player 1 through player 20 has never wavered. All of the boys go 100% from the moment they walk in the gym. We set goals at the beginning of the season and breaking the 28 year Regional Championship drought was one of them. I am so proud of these boys, but we aren't done yet..." The Raiders (22 - 1) will HOST the Sectional game this Monday night beginning at 6:30 PM against Decatur Our Lady of Lourdes (24-1). Lets pack this place! #raiderforlife
