The Raiders Fresh Soph basketball team kept their strong play going, moving to 16-5 on the season with a semifinal win over top seeded Lexington 52-47 to advance to the championship of the 72nd annual Hartem tournament! The Raiders jumped out to a 15 point lead midway through the 3rd quarter, but Lexington cut it to 2 with 1 min left. However, Ryan Terrill had a big put back bucket with 15 seconds left to seal the win and punch their ticket to the title game. Terrill finished the game with 8 points to go with his 5 rebounds. Josh Dawe also finished with 12 points and 6 assists and Brenden Carton fell just short of a double double with 10 points and 7 boards. With the win, the Raiders look to cap off their season with a title against Edinburg. Game time is 12:45 on Saturday in Hartsburg. Be sure to come out and see the boys play one last time this season!

Raiders traveled to Normal to Fresh/Soph regionals. Tough matches for this young squad. Great job to Liam, Leelinn, Cole and Jesse for extending their season and putting in the extra hard work. Liam Zimmerman went into overtime, scored the takedown and secured his spot to Sectionals next Sunday in Heyworth!

A thrilling corner 3 pointer with just 7 seconds remaining brought Midwest Central’s season to a heartbreaking end in the regional semifinals, as they fell to the third-seeded Illini Central Cougars, 52-51. Despite the tough loss, the Raiders left everything on the court, showcasing the resilience and determination that defined their season. Josh Dawe delivered a standout performance, leading the way with 22 points, including four clutch 3 pointers. The senior leaders stepped up on the big stage as well, with Owen Schmidt contributing 8 points and 8 rebounds and John Schnoor adding 6 points. Senior Ayden Forbis also contributed with great effort off the bench. Though their win streak ended at three, this team’s fight and grit have set the foundation for future success. With their effort and heart, these Raiders paved the way for the program’s continued growth in the years to come under the leadership of Coach Nick Gerndt.

Our curriculum now includes team sports, lifetime fitness, and health and wellness classes. Team sports is a traditional PE class focusing on sport units. Lifetime fitness focuses on activities that students will be able to do for many years after high school. The health and wellness class is a beginning strength training and fitness class.
