MCMS Volleyball Game Recap vs. Olympia | Monday, January 12
Midwest Central Middle School volleyball turned in a strong night against Olympia, with both the 7th and 8th grade teams earning wins.
The 7th grade team opened the evening with a 2–0 victory, setting the tone with steady serving and balanced contributions throughout the match. The 7th Grade Raiders recorded 11 service aces on 45 serves, using consistent pressure and teamwork to control both sets.
The 8th grade Raiders followed with a resilient 2–1 win in a competitive three-set match. After a close second-set loss, the team responded with focus and toughness in the deciding set. Midwest Central 8th Grade finished with 17 service aces and just 4 service errors, while the defense stepped up with several strong defensive blocks, helping stop Olympia’s momentum and secure the win.
It was a complete team effort from start to finish, for all teams, reflecting the growth, composures, and competitive culture this program continues to build. Way to go Raiders!

The Raiders 8th grade basketball team put on another good performance with a 40-26 victory over Tomahawk Conference rival Illini Central to move to 17-4 on the season! Jase Canada and Jaxton Bolen combined for 34 points as Bolen led the way with 19 and Jase Canada added a double/double scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Easton Rogers and Sam Dierker rounded out the scoring with 3 points apiece.

The Raiders basketball teams picked up a couple big wins on Tuesday night with a clean sweep of St. Jude!
In 7th grade action the Raiders got balanced scoring from 5 different players en route to a 22-17 victory. Remi Arthalony led the charge with 9 points and Ethan Brotherton added 5 as the Raiders defense stifled St. Jude to 1 point in the fourth quarter to secure the win!
The 8th grade game was a thriller as Midwest Central moved to 16-4 with a gutsy 37-35 victory! Jaxton Bolen and Jase Canada had huge games for the Raiders, with Bolen leading the charge with 21 points and Canada adding 14!

Last night marked our very first volleyball game of the season against West Lincoln Broadwell!
Our teams had a fantastic first showing against a competitive opponent. Every single athlete played with heart, determination, and nonstop effort from start to finish. They truly lived up to our team motto of being strong, being courageous, and always looking forward to the next play.
Our 8th grade team played an intense and competitive match, staying strong and focused in several close moments to win both sets.
The 7th grade team had a strong showing - rallying together some comeback moments. It wasn’t enough to come away with the win - but their fight, resilience, and teamwork were truly something to be proud of.
Our B team battled in a close match and earned the win. Several leaders stepped up with strong effort and teamwork.
Each team made Coach Mattson and Coach Keaschall incredibly proud. Congratulations to all of our athletes, we are so proud of you and can’t wait to see what this season brings! 🖤

Christmas Break time is here!
The Raiders basketball teams wrapped up their pre-Christmas schedule with a pair of victories on Thursday night against the Delavan Panthers.
In 7th grade action, the Raiders jumped out to a 13-4 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, cruising to a 28-20 victory! Remi Arthalony led the charge with 14 points and Evan Kolves added 8 points and Ethan Brotherton also contributed 4 points to the winning effort!
The 8th graders kept the good times rolling, cruising to a 39 - 18 victory over the young Panthers to pick up their 15th win on the season. Jase Canada scored 8 points, including the 1,000th point of his middle school career on a 3 pointer from the left wing! Jaxton Bolen also had a big game for the Raiders, picking up 9 points in the first quarter en route to a 15 point performance. Jace Price and Easton Rogers also added multiple buckets in the winning effort as 8 different players hit the scoring column.
With the wins, the Raiders head into Christmas with a record of 15 wins and 3 losses as they prepare for a matchup with West Lincoln-Broadwell coming out of the break in January. The Midwest Central Basketball program would like to wish everyone a safe and relaxing Christmas break!

This year we started a new reading incentive at the Middle School and High School: 100 Book Before Graduation! The goal: for students to read 100 books between 6th -12th grades. To encourage students who don't have 7 years to complete the challenge, we lowered the goal for students above 6th grade. This year's seniors have a goal of 10 books by the end of April.
While we have no doubt she's read 100 books since 6th grade, Hailey Green is our first student to reach the 100 Books Before Graduation goal! Hailey (and any other seniors who meet their goal by the end of April) will be recognized at Senior Night in May.
