As many of you know last year we had the “What’s Poppin’ at MCMS” communication bulletin board. This year we have the same board but a different theme. It’s called the “Just So U-NO” board. For our new students this board is located across from Nurse Niki’s office. It will hold all the important information that happens at MCMS. For example, fliers to take home, athletic sign-ups for try outs, important dates and times, etc. Mrs. Byrd or I will always relay when information is put up on the “Just So U-NO” board over the morning announcements. Please look for it on your way to PE today. If you miss anything on the morning announcements, we always have them posted on the Middle School website!
Attention 6th through 8th graders! 🍬 Something new and exciting is happening this year… MCMS is kicking off the “Math is Sweet” challenge! Here’s how it works: Each week, a brand-new math problem will be posted outside Mrs. Keaschalls room (room 202). If you think you’ve got what it takes, try to solve the problem, show your work, and turn it in with your full name, grade, and homeroom into the Math Mailbox outside of Mrs Keaschall’s room. On next Monday, we’ll draw winners from the correct entries, and their names will be announced right. 🎉 Winners get a sweet treat! A new problem will be posted every week, so keep those pencils sharp and those brains ready. Because around here… Math is Sweet!”
Cheer Open Gyms will be held Tuesday, September 9 & 10th from 3:00-5:00 at the Primary School (a shuttle will bus students to the primary school)
Cheer tryouts will be Friday 9/12 Starting at 3:00pm at the Primary School. The cheer try out sign up sheet and requirement packets are located on the Uno Board.
The MS cross country team competed at Delavan last night. This was their first meet of the 2025 season. The weather was a little warm, but they were at least able to get a race in. The girls and boys ran their races together over the 2-mile course. No team scores or places were kept. All runners ran amazing races!
The Raiders baseball team kicked off their home opener with great pitching and solid defense to pick up a solid 13-0 victory over the South Pekin Tornadoes! Garrett Shay shined on the bump for the Raiders in his junior high debut, firing 4 innings of NO HIT baseball to pick up the win! The right hander added 6 strikeouts and only 1 walk as he filled the strike zone all night! Jase Canada had a double in the first inning to score Jaxton Bolen to start the scoring for the Raiders, and Aden Bell delivered a big blow in the bottom of the second inning to make it 8-0 and put the game out of reach!
Libby Duwaldt struck out 10 batters as the starting pitcher led MCMS Raiders Softball past Bloomington 8-3 on Tuesday. Libby surrendered five hits and three runs over six innings while walking two. MCMS Raiders Softball collected 14 hits in the game. Kallie, Sophia, and Libby each drove. Kynlie, Nora Dierker, and Peyton B. each collected multiple hits for the Raiders.
